What is the purpose of breath awareness during meditation?

Becoming aware of your breath helps you focus your mind and alter your mood. With specific breathing exercises you activate your parasympathetic nervous system. Therefore you are relieving stress, decrease anxiety + depression plus minimise the sensation of pain in the body.

How do I sit during meditation?

You can either sit or lay down during mediation. Make sure you are in a comfortable position - however make sure your spine is straight. If you choose to sit, feel yourself grounded through your feet. You don’t want to cross your legs/ arms. The overall body posture is relaxed with the focus on the breath flowing in and out of your body.

I am not very flexible. Am I still able to participate in the Yoga Classes?

Absolutely. Whether you’ve been able to do the splits since you were five or can barely touch your toes: Our classes are for every body – and varying levels of fitness and ability. You’ll notice your flexibility will naturally start to increase after a few classes. That’s the magic of Healju Hub Classes.

How to overcome negative thoughts & distractions during meditation?

When you’ re meditating , it’s likely that you’ ll come across distractions. Wether it’ s external circumstances, physical pain or negative thoughts that might show up. Just know that all these emotions, thoughts and feelings are all just passing by like clouds. Notice and acknowledge them when they arise and watch them from an observer perspective. Don’ t judge yourself or create resistance here. Simply be aware and come back to the breath. It becomes easier as you continue your pratice.

What do I need for a Yoga Class?

We recommend using Yoga Mats. A beautiful add on are blocks, bands and cushions or bolsters however not a must. Having a water bottle and a small towel near you comes in handy, too.

What time is best for meditating?

We recommend meditating first thing in the morning. This is a beautiful way to start the day and usually the best time to find a a few peaceful minutes. However any time is a good time to meditate that feels comfortable for you.

How do I make time for meditation?

Think of meditation as a practice to integrate in your daily life. Just as another part of your routine, like brushing your teeth. If you can’t make it one day don’t be too hard on yourself. The important thing is to stick to it longterm to reap all the benefits that meditation has to offer.

What are the biggest myths about Meditation?

Where is a good place for meditation?

The beauty of meditation is that you can mediate anywhere and everywhere. You can meditate either indoors or outdoors. Just find yourself a quiet and peaceful spot where you won’t be disturbed.
